How does the presence of Varroa affect the pathogen fauna of honeybees and wild bumblebees

 

We received funding from the C.B. Dennis Trust to test how the viral vector Varroa destructor changes the disease dynamics of multi-host pathogens in honeybees and wild bumblebees. This work will give insights into pollinator disease dynamics in the British Isles by determining the directions of disease transmission, and may ultimately inform management practices for honeybees, commercial bumblebees and wild bumblebees in the UK.
